So I'm in the locker room and another lady struck up a conversation. I guess it is ok after you have been on the earth for 70 or so years to strike up casual conversation while you are both naked? Anyway, she complimented me on my speed in the pool, and she said I inspired her. I thanked her, though I added that I really have nothing to compare to.

I inspired her? She inspires me, all the aging ladies in the pool inspire me. I hope I'm still as active after another 40 years. I regularly get smoked by women in their 40's and 50's in races too. I always say I hope I can get that fast by the time I am their age.

Even the "bobbers" inspire me. Ok she said it, I didn't. I asked if the pool was usually that empty around that time and she said "Yes, but watch out for the bobbers, when they come they take over." I couldn't help but giggle. The "bobbers" she was referring to were the water aerobics classes :). And it's true, a good deal of what they do is bob up and down. No doubt they are working hard, and I don't think she was being degrading, it's just a nickname. I thought about that further since and I think "bobber" is a nice name. Better to be a "bobber" than a "buoy".
